Expression Through Photography

JULY 9, 2011

This is my submission of Independence at DPS.

JULY 8, 2011

My friend Ramona and I decided to go to the WBGL outdoor concert featuring Chris August. It was a great concert, and I didn't realize how funny Chris is.  Here's a couple shots from the concert.

This little girl took her dad's hat while he was tying her shoes.  Both girls were a joy to watch.  I think I'm ready for grandkids. :-)

This is my Red, White and Blue submission. I took this photo at the Champaign Freedom Celebration at Dodd's park on July 4, 2011.
What I like best about this shot is that it captures the heartbeat of America in small town USA. The band in the background, the veteran in the foreground, and the party atmosphere all around.

If you enjoy photography and you want to improve your skills. I highly recommend the Digital Photography School.  It's a free online school that has a lot of information about technique, camera settings, lighing, composition etc. Each week the developer, Darren Rouse, assigns a project and he gives a week or more to complete the assignement. Lately he has been focused on lines. The past few weeks he covered diagonal lines, horizontal lines, and this week vertical lines. Then you post a reply to the forum and include the link to the photo in flickr where your photos are stored.  Be sure to read the "How to post pictures in assignement thread using Flickr."

Here's a photo I submitted for the diagonal assignment. This is one of my favorite photos.

Here is my photo for the horizontal submission.

And finally, my submission for vertical assignment this week.
